What makes the SLP1000 so effective?

The Palomar SLP1000 uses Super Long Pulses (up to 1000 ms), which deliver energy to the skin over a longer period of time than shorter pulses (<1 to 100 ms). This keeps the epidermis from overheating and dramatically reduces discomfort and side effects. By providing maximum protection to the epidermis, Super Long-Pulse Technology permits higher fluences to be used on darker skinned patients than would otherwise be possible.

In hair removal treatments, Super Long Pulses spread heat beyond the hair shaft to the stem cells. Most lasers merely ablate the hair shaft. However, the SLP1000 disables the entire hair follicle. The result: permanent hair reduction.

The SLP1000 also features Palomar's exclusive Photon Recycling. In this process, light that has been reflected away from the skin is captured and reflected back toward the hair follicles. This amplifies the efficiency and effectiveness of each laser pulse.

Three SheerCool™ Handpieces for tailored treatments

Palomar offers three different SheerCool handpieces with the SLP1000 Laser System: 12-mm, 8-mm, and 4-mm. The 12-mm handpiece removes hair from all skin types. Its large spot size allows rapid coverage of all body areas. The 8-mm handpiece treats large leg veins, telangiectatic matting, and certain other large and/or deep vascular lesions. It can also be used for increased efficacy on thinner, lighter hair. The 4-mm handpiece is ideal for small to medium-sized leg veins, facial veins, spider nevi, cherry angiomas, and other superficial structures.

Contact cooling for patient safety

All three handpieces incorporate a subzero cooling plate, which chills the skin for the duration of each laser pulse. The larger cooling plate on the 8-mm and 12-mm handpieces also chills the skin before and after each pulse. Aggressive contact cooling further protects the skin from burning, blistering, and other side effects.
